Cusikay — Privacy policy

At Cusikay we look after your data the way we look after a recipe: just what's needed, nothing more. Here's what we keep and why, in plain words.

Optional usage data

Only if you turn on "Help improve Cusikay", we record pseudonymous usage events — specifically: what you search, which recipes you open and which you mark as cooked, which ingredients you add to or consume from the pantry, which Library cards you read, which world cuisines you open, which diet or style filters you tap, which pantry suggestions you tap, and which kitchen tools you set in your profile — together with approximate country, timezone, app language, device platform, hour and month. A random installation code keeps events together over time, but is never linked to your account, email or name. We never collect GPS location. Turning this off stops new collection and deletes the code and unsent queue from this device. We don't sell this data or use it for advertising.

What we keep

If you create an account, we keep your email. If you fill in your profile, we keep what you choose: your name (optional), allergies, diet preferences, and which kitchen tools you have. Also your favorite recipes. Your recent recipes stay on your own phone.

What we use it for

Only to recommend better and save your progress: hiding what could harm you (allergies), sorting recipes to your taste, and letting you find what you saved. Nothing else. The basis is simple: we process your account and profile data because it’s needed to give you the service, and usage events only with your consent, which you can withdraw in Profile anytime. Your allergies and diet are sensitive data and we treat them that way: they only filter recipes and never leave your profile.

Where it lives

Your account, profile and favorites are stored with our infrastructure provider (Supabase). If you opt in, optional usage events are sent there too without your account identity. Your pantry, recent recipes, and reading and cooking progress live on your phone; if you turned on optional usage data, pseudonymous events about those actions are also sent, as the first section explains. The servers are in the European Union (Ireland), and our provider handles the data with equal or equivalent protection to this policy, only on our behalf. We don't publish them or show them to other people.

What we DON'T do

We don't sell your personal data. There are no third-party ad trackers. We don't share who you are with anyone to sell you things.

Your rights

You can view and edit your profile anytime. Profile → Delete my account permanently deletes the account and account-linked data after the server confirms it, then clears personal data on this device. Optional usage events cannot be selected by email because they were never linked to the account; switching them off deletes the local code and anything not yet sent, and what was already sent carries nothing that leads back to you and is only used as group statistics. Your account data is kept for as long as the account exists, and deleted when you delete it. Minors and alcohol

Cusikay is not intended for minors. This version does not show alcohol content.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date above. We'll let you know about important changes inside the app.
